Screw March Madness...

Why would I be excited for March Madness when we got February Madness?!

College basketball has been my favourite sport to watch for a very long time. The passion of the fans, the rivalries that matter regardless of how good the teams are, and most of all its wild finishes.

The start of the season saw Indiana ranked #1, they held it until Butler worked there magic once again and knocked them off in overtime on a off balance runner that forced OT. Duke took over the #1 ranking for a few weeks but then Ryan Kelly hurt his foot and NC State took them down. Since then we have had 5 straight weeks with a new number one. I can’t remember having craziesness like this ever…

So lets recap this past week:

• #2 Florida loses to Arkansas by about 1000000 points, losing one of there key players for an extended period of time in the process
• # 1 Indiana loses their first game as the top dog against Illinois when they were up 10 or so in the last 4 minutes. This included a tip in play that won the game for Fighting Illini in the final 0.9 seconds 
• #5 Kansas lost TWICE this week and now 3 straight games!! The more shocking of these loses came to TCU where they only managed to score 13 points in the first half against a team that was 0-8 in league play. The followed this up with a harder fought lose to Oklahoma
• #3 Michigan lost to Wisconsin at Kohl centre, which is certainly one of the best home courts in the country but it also had a wild finish. Game tied with under 10 seconds, Hardaway jr. hits a 3 to give Michigan a 3 point lead – 2.4 seconds left Wisconsin throws up a half court shot and it goes! OT BABY. In OT Wisconsin won the game

But the Game of the Week goes to Louisville and Notre Dame. I am guilty of not having seen the end of this one because I went to bed with about a minute left in the game and a 12 point Louisville lead thinking surely the nations number one defence wont F***K this one up… WRONG

3 3-pointers and a bucket + the foul later we have a tie ball game. We didn’t just go to overtime we went to 5 overtimes and I missed them all. #wildestgameever 

So like I said, who needs March when February is this wild>! the only thing that can make this better Rivalry week- I will be celebrating this fantastic week by highlighting some of the best Rivalries in college sports as they happen all week long.
